Rebuild America works with community partnerships around the country
to develop and execute large scale programs devoted to investing money
to complete energy efficient renovations in hundreds of buildings. These
community partnerships create approaches designed to meet the community's
unique needs in their commercial buildings, multifamily buildings, and
publicly Thoughout the nation, communities large and small are forming Rebuild America partnerships. This program of the U.S. Department of Energy invites partnerships to join with the many other communities who have chosen this program. Check the information on the national web site by following the link here. The Buildings Design and Performance Program provides significant support to DOE for this program, including technical assistance, program information, and other types of assistance to partners. The national web site has a map and state-by-state list of partners. Follow the partners link at the top of that page. A text extract from a program flyer (3/98) is given below:What is Rebuild America?Rebuild America is a U.S. Department of Energy program that lets you choose the best ways to save money by cutting energy use in your buildings. We help by linking you to a network of technical and business experts. The bottom line... you succeed by doing things your way. What's the big idea?By leading a Rebuild America partnership in your community; you can save money, create jobs, promote community growth, and protect the environment. By the year 2003, Rebuild America partnerships will be helping to renovate 2 billion square feet of building space, putting $650 million a year back into their communities. But Rebuild America is different from other voluntary federal programs. Other programs require you to do things their way. We let you choose everything from how much money to save to which buildings to renovate. What do I do?First, you take the lead in forming a community partnership and developing an action plan. Then, your partnership works with building owners and occupants to complete money-saving retrofit projects. What do I get?Partnerships have access to national experts on buildings, energy, finance, and more. Plus, a program representative will help you identify local resources and financing options, and facilitate special assistance from Rebuild America to help you get retrofits completed. Who else belongs?Over 160 community partnerships across the country have joined Rebuild America. They represent an exciting variety of states, large cities, small towns, and universities. How do I sign up?Call the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Clearinghouse (EREC)
at 1 800-DOE-EREC. We'll send you more information, including a partnership
